Deputy Prosecutor Maria McSperitt announced Thursday that she would enter the race for Juvenile Judge in Circuit Court, Division 3 of the Fourth Judicial District of Arkansas, which encompasses all of Washington and Madison Counties.
McSperitt is an attorney who has spent her career representing families. She has represented them in the courts where she worked to find justice for children and parents who have gotten off track, causing their families to be involved in the court system. She has represented children and parents involved in the foster care system, families experiencing divorce and custody issues and currently her focus is on FINS (Family in Need of Services) cases as a prosecutor with the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.
A resident of NWA for over 25 years, McSperitt, earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida, her law degree from Stetson University and worked in domestic violence advocacy before opening her own law practice in Madison County in 2011.
Maria and her husband Clifford have a blended family of four boys, Anthony McSperitt, Adam Thompson, Brandon McSperitt and David Boat, and have opened their home to many more. She has served as president of Kiwanis in Huntsville, led the Salvation Army outreach in Madison County and volunteers time helping many other organizations in NWA that support the families that live here.
She loves to relax with friends and family on the river or around a bonfire telling stories and making memories or working in her garden.
“Northwest Arkansas is my ‘Mayberry’, and I have spent my time here seeing that families get a fair representation and the support they need to succeed. That is why I am running for Circuit Judge, for the next generation to experience all this region has to offer and ensure they get fair opportunities when they enter my courtroom.
